1. Share the hobby with like-minded
individuals
Joining the Ontario Model Soldier Society (OMSS) enables an individual to share his or her passion for toy soldiers and model figures with like minded individuals.

Collecting toy soldiers and model figures can be a very solitary endeavor. Sharing your love for the hobby with others can be very gratifying at many levels.
​
Participating in OMSS's monthly Zoom Meetings or attending in-person monthly meetings in Toronto or Ottawa provides an opportunity to meet fellow enthusiasts, share collector "war stories", and make new friends.
2. Provides an opportunity to become
a much better informed collector
OMSS membership offers a unique window on the hobby and offers a tremendous opportunity to become a more informed collector.

Collectively, OMSS members who participate in monthly Zoom Meetings or in-person meetings in Toronto and Ottawa have hundreds of hours of experience in the hobby. This knowledge can be invaluable for a member.

OMSS members receive a Calendar, a monthly Newsletter and twice a year they receive the Journal.
3. Fosters knowledge of toy
soldier-related skils
OMSS members can draw upon the expertise of members in connection with a number of related skills including painting model figures, building dioramas, 3D printing, as well as casting metal figures.
4. Excellent opportunities to buy--or
sell--toy soldiers
OMSS members have a large number of opportunities to either buy toy soldiers at discounts or sell soldiers from their collections. This can be accomplished at the following:

Due to both OMSS members downsizing and passing significant toy soldier collections often become available.
5. Membership fosters appreciation
for military history
It is difficult, if not impossible, to be an avid toy soldier collector without having some level of appreciation for military history.

Seven of the OMSS monthly meetings held in Toronto typically have a guest speaker talking about some aspect of military history, the toy soldier hobby, or a related topic such as 3D printing.
Some of these featured presentations might be a slide presentation of a member who has done a battlefield tour.
6. Opportunity to participate in Zoom Meetings hosted by BMSS
OMSS has an excellent relationship with the British Model Soldier Society (BMSS). OMSS members are entitled to be a guest on monthly BMSS Zoom Meetings.

BMSS Zoom Meetings are held on the first Friday of each month at 2:00 p.m., Eastern Time.
